This “Content Preparation Progress” message offers the unhelpful (and apparently unnecessary) prompt that you should “Please wait while the document is being prepared for reading.” Pressing the Cancel button doesn’t seem to affect anything. Whether you are a user of the portal or work for Adobe, if you agree or disagree that these improvements above would help your experience of using the portal, please add a comment here. Someone might propose I file a feature request at tracker.adobe.com, but I don’t see any option in when creating a feature request to file one for the portal. The last known file path and file name and the currently selected file path and file name are displayed at the top of the panel for reference. Select the file and click OK. C: Program Files Adobe Reader 8.0 Reader plugins and delete the file called Accessibility.api. Next time you run Adobe Reader, a message will appear that 'This version of the Adobe Reader does not support screen readers'. Click on the 'Do not show this message again' check box, and click OK to have this message not prompt again.
Most of you guys may have noticed the “Please wait while the document is being prepared” message of Adobe Reader 8. This can be quite annoying for slower PCs. This “Content Preparation Progress” is very long for huge PDF files in my old AMD computer. After searching a while I got a fix for this!
The Process is very simple:
1. Close Adobe Reader and Open My Computer and browse to the folder:
C:Program FilesAdobeReader 8.0Readerplug_ins
2. Find and delete the file Accessibility.api
3. Open Adobe Reader now and it may show a warning:
This version of the Adobe Reader does not support screen readers.
4. Check the “Do not show this message again” check box, and click OK
You are done! No more “Please wait while the document is being prepared” messages!
