8U-10U 5v5 League with 7v7 option
Ages and Formats:
8U-10U Boys & Girls: 5v5
9U-10U Boys & Girls: Optional 7v7
The program is designed to maximize player development. The small sided games will allow a player to just play and own the game. Players receive more touches in a smaller space, more goals are scored and players are completely engaged in the game at all times.
Teams will be bracketed based off of geography, competitiveness, and by like-minded clubs. Teams will play the other teams in their division in a league format. EDP Soccer will provide a 7v7 option for any interested 9U and 10U teams.
- The league is open to boys and girls teams (Co-Ed teams will play in the boys bracket).
- Each 5v5 team will play 4 field players plus a keeper with unlimited substitutions.
- No final scores or results will be kept.
- A size 3 soccer ball should be used for all 8U games and a size 4 for all 9U and 10U games.
Teams will be grouped together on a number of factors, and will rotate to play different opponents depending on age group. These games are designed to:
- Provide accelerated player development in an enjoyable atmosphere
- Deliver education of the game while allowing the players to make mistakes
- Allow players to participate in a level of soccer where they can become comfortable with the game
Game Lengths:
- 8U-10U: 5v5 game lengths will be 40 minutes (20 minute halves).
- 9U and 10U: 7v7 game lengths will be 50 minutes (25 minute halves).
Field Layout:
- The 5v5 field size is roughly 60 ft x 100 ft. (20 x 35 Yards)
- The 7v7 field size is a regulation size 7v7 field with build out lines.
- Goal sizes will be Futsal size goals for 5v5 games and 6.5’ x 18’ for 7v7 games.
Carding:
All teams will use US Youth Soccer passes. 9U and 10U teams must possess player passes from MSYSA.
