Im trying to set up boot camp assistant for Win 10 on my early-2014 MacBook Air. I downloaded the 4.3GB 64bit ISO diretly from Windows but Boot Camp Assistant keeps. In certain circumstances, Boot Camp Assistant might say that your bootable USB drive could not be created, or that there is not enough space available on the disk. To resolve, complete these steps: Make sure that you're using an external USB flash drive with a storage capacity of 16GB or more. Install the latest macOS updates. Boot camp was only allowing me to create a 125gb partition for windows. I accepted that and partitioned the drive in boot camp. Before installing windows I rebooted the Mac OS, went into Disk Utilities and then deleted the windows partition. Now start again and run bootcamp and you will find a lot more space is available for your windows partition.

I have recently cleared space on my hard drive to accomodate a 64bit Windows 7 partition, which I wanted to make with boot camp assistant. I made absolutely sure I had plenty of space; in fact, I have no less than 35 GB of space available on my startup disk. HOWEVER, the amount of space on my hard drive seems to be constantly changing. I believe this is due to time machine's hidden background backups which automatically fill up an expandable partition entitled 'mobilebackups'. Boot camp assistant constantly gives me the following error: 'The startup disk does not have enough space to be partitioned. You must have at least 10 GB of free space available.' This is on a 2.2GHz 15' SR MacBook Pro 2007 with 6GB RAM. I am running 10.7.1 (LION). Perhaps this has something to do with the recovery disk or the mobilebackps partition being treated as one or more separate partitions, as boot camp will only partition a drive with a single partition. However, I have not heard of this error anywhere else. Thanks for your help in advance! I am a rather experienced user, so feel free to use advanced terminoligy if you wish. PS Attached are screenshots of the error message and of my HD's info (free space highlighted)

Bootcamp Not Enough Space On The Disk

I know there is probably a thread for this already, but I am new to forums, and do not know how to easily find it. I'm having problems with Boot Camp. It is telling me that I have to back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) Volume. But I know that my Mac is already a Extended Volume. I know I have enough space to partition but it still fails. It is extremely frustrating, and any help would be awesome. I heard that a defragmentation would help but I do not want to spend 40 bucks on something that 'might' work.
Thanks
